Gilda Faye Richardson May 8, 1926 - June 29, 2014 Gilda Faye Richardson was born on May 8, 1926 in Clarksville Texas. On June 29th, 2014 she found eternal peace at age 88. She moved to Lansing Michigan in 1946, and attended Lansing Business College and Michigan State University. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church, the Gayettes, the Earl Nelson Singers, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and the NAACP. Gilda was elected to the Lansing School District Board of Education in 1975 and in 1988 she became its first African American President. Gilda was preceded in death by her husband James F ("Sweets") Richardson, her parents, Thelma and Freeman Johns Sr., Daughter, Linda Moore, Son, Michael David Cooper, Brother, Freeman Johns, Jr., and twin, Faye Lee Johnson. She leaves to mourn, grandsons and granddaughters, Marcus (Lisa) Moore, James (Victoria) Moore, Dwayne (Carla) Moore, Cleveland (Lisa) Moore, Crispus (Amy) Moore, Juwairiah, Miquel, Aadam (Melody), Jameel and Ashley Cooper, 30 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild, nieces and nephews, loving daughter in law, Kay Porter and God daughter Crystal Nichols. She also leaves many special friends, the dearest being Hazel Robertson, Dorothy Nichols Lewis, Sylvia Hatcher and Dr. Eva Evans. Friends may visit Mrs. Richardson Sunday July 6th, 4-9 at Riley Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral to be held July 7th, 1pm at Trinity A.M.E Church.
