Helen Madonna Clegg Eaton Rapids Went to be with her Lord on November 1, 2013 at the age of 89. She was born in Hannibal, MO. May 4, 1924 to Orval and Helen (Allison) Riegel. Helen was married to her husband, Albert for 50 years. She was a W.A.C during WW II and was one of the first women to be trained in chemical warfare. She attended MSU where she received a bachelor's degree in journalism. After college she worked as a reporter for the Lansing State Journal and the Jackson Citizen Patriot. Helen was a very active and dedicated member of the First United Methodist Church, serving on many committees. She collected art glass, enjoyed reading, was a swimmer and belonged to the green splash during her years at MSU. Helen is survived by her brother, Taylor (Marcia) Riegel of Berkley, MI; sister, Cecelia (Charlie) Page of Eaton Rapids; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert "Tige" Clegg; sister, Laura Heuser; brother, Tom Riegel. Funeral services will be 11 am Monday November 4, 2013 at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, 518 S. Main St. Eaton Rapids with Pastor Daniel Hofmann officiating. Interment will take place at a later date in Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
