James Kenneth Boutell Lansing James Kenneth Boutell, age 79, formerly of Howell for most of his life, passed away Thursday, July 18, 2013 at Hospice House of Mid-Michigan, after a six year battle with multiple myeloma. He was born in Howell, Michigan on March 12, 1934 to Kenneth and Ruth (Jones) Boutell. Jim was retired from Oldsmobile; General Motors Proving Grounds and was later employed at First United Methodist Church in Howell. He was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Men's Group. Jim was an avid hunter, fisherman, gentleman farmer and enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers. His grandchildren were the light of his life and he loved doing many activities with them. Beloved husband of Betty (Bartlett) Boutell for 59 years. Also survived by sons, James R. (Debi) Boutell of Sweeney, Texas; Randy J. (Sue) Boutell of Grand Ledge, Michigan; Tom (Chris) Knapp of Howell and Terry (Kip) Knapp of Gilmore, Texas. Loving grandfather of fourteen, great-grandfather of nineteen and great-great-grandfather of one. Also survived by sister, Jean (Stan) Messenger of Houston, Texas and brother, Robert Boutell of Flint, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his parents and three grandsons. Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Monday, July 22, 2013 with a funeral services immediately following at First United Methodist Church, 1230 Bower Street, Howell.
