Joel E. Platte

Grand Ledge

Joel E. Platte of Grand Ledge a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and friend passed away March 8, 2014. Joel was born December 28, 1963 in Kalamazoo, Michigan to Eugene A. and Betty J. (Casper) Platte. He graduated from Pewamo-Westphalia High School and went on to receive a Bachelors Degree from Michigan State University. Joel was a member of the Knights of Columbus 7311 - St. Michael Parish. He enjoyed hunting, skiing, traveling, and watching MSU sports, especially football.  He was his children's biggest fan for their sporting and school events.

He is survived by his wife of over twenty-six years, Connie (Huhn); children, Sarah, Alex and Katherine Platte; dad, Eugene; sisters, Mandy (Chris) Schrauben, Jennifer (James) Wise and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty J. Platte.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by The Reverend Fr. James Eisele Wednesday, March 12, 2014, 10:30am at St. Michael Catholic Church, Grand Ledge. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 3-5pm and 7-9pm with a Scripture Service at 7:30 pm at St. Michael Catholic Church. Memorial contributions may be given to the Platte children's educational fund.
