John T. Tiffany Lansing Age 71 passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor under the loving care of his family. He was born May 18, 1942 in Grand Rapids, MI the son of Dr. Joseph C. and Dorothy (Yeakey) Tiffany. He married Jeanne Mytio in 1968 and they had a daughter, Kimberly Ann born on February 19, 1974 who quickly became his pride and joy. Later, he married Barbara Hull on March 25, 2000 and she preceded him in death in 2013 after 13 years of marriage. Besides his loving wife, John is also preceded in death by his daughter Kimberly in 2005, parents and brother, Dr. Joseph Tiffany. John was a graduate of Worsham Mortuary College and began his career at the former Jessen Funeral Home in 1972. He purchased the funeral home in 1976 and it became Tiffany Funeral Home. He worked as an owner and licensed funeral director until his retirement in 2005 and was the recipient of the 40 Yr. Funeral Director Licensee award from Michigan Funeral Directors Association. During his working years, John also was involved with Kiwanas, serving as a Past President at one time. John was also the former owner of Emerald Limousine Service. John enjoyed visiting local restaurants and enjoyed getting to know the staff there, especially his "Denny's" family. In his retirement years, he enjoyed traveling with his wife, Barb, cheering on the MSU Spartans, watching movies and was often known to be up till the wee hours of the morning because he'd found a good movie on. He loved spending time with his family and being involved in their activities, especially those of his grandchildren. John is survived by sister-in-law, Ruth Tiffany of Ocala, FL; nephew, Jay Tiffany of Orlando, FL; niece, Dawn Marie (Kevin) Fiend; grandchildren, Danny, Morgan and Lillian Pixley and Rachelle Russell; and the extended family of Barb Tiffany. John's family will celebrate his life on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at 2:00 PM at the Tiffany Funeral Home, Lansing, MI with Pastor James E. Robinson. Interment will take place at Delta Hillside Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home Saturday beginning at 12 PM until the time of the service.
