Obituary Condolences

Kristine Sue Early (née Langkamp) Jenison Aged 57 of Jenison, MI died Tuesday, July 16, 2013. She was born September 29, 1955 to Marie C. and Joseph J. Langkamp of Caledonia, MI who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Joe Langkamp; brother-in-law, Michael O'Malley; and stepfather, Ronald Doxtator. She is survived by her only child, Joseph Duane Early; sister, Sandra O'Malley; brother, Mark Langkamp; sister-in-law, Christina Langkamp; nieces and nephews, Kelly (Rod), Keirya (Joe), Trenton (Katy), Trevor, Zachary (Tammy), Lacey Langkamp, Michelle and Sean O'Malley, Scott (Megan), Roxanne (Chad) Doxtator who were all very special in her life as were their children and all of Kris' friends who are to numerous to name. Kris grew up in Caledonia where she graduated from high school in 1973 with honors. She attended Michigan State University where she was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority and later graduated with a BA degree from Spring Arbor College in Management of Human Resources. Kris joined the U.S. Air Force in 1981 and was very proud of her service to her country as a Russian linguist in Germany during Grenada. Upon completion of her service, Kris landed a job with the U.S. Postal Service in 1986; she was promoted several times and worked many years as a Labor Relations Specialist. Kris eventually received her Master's Degree in Business from Davenport University in 2002 and continued her education until the day she passed away always saying that she could learn something new every day. She received her Post Baccalaureate Degree in Paralegal Studies and served on the Davenport University Paralegal Studies Advisory Board. Kris loved to cook and often brought food in for co-workers and for church parish members needing help. She would give you the shirt off her back if you needed it and most times you didn't have to ask. Her son, Joe was the "main man" of her life and made her so proud when he stepped up to serve his country as a M.P. in the U.S. Army serving at the Pentagon following 911 and in Iraqi Freedom. Kris was a member of various organizations to include the Kent County Honor Guard, American Legion Post #305 and Past Commander of Post #174. Her other various volunteer organizations in which she was a member included the O'Leary Foundation, the Michigan Center for Civic education (Mock Trial Tournaments) and Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Jenison, MI. A celebration of Kris' life will be held on Thursday at 3:00 p.m. at the Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Chapel (Caledonia), 616 E. Main St. with Pastor Dennis Gilbert officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral home on Thursday from noon - 3 p.m. Interment in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
