Leroy Ellis Mix DeWitt Twp. Age 74 passed away Friday, October 4, 2013 under the loving care of his family. He was born October 18, 1938 in Alma, Michigan the son of John and Emma (Jellison) Mix. He married Helen French on October 17, 1959 and she survives. Leroy worked for General Motors for 44 years until his retirement in 2002. He loved fishing and racing stock cars. He was also a big sports fan, especially the Lions, Tigers and MSU Spartans. He enjoyed playing cards, including Texas Hold-em. Preceding him in death are his parents and daughter, Joan Marie Hoover. Besides his loving wife of 53 years, Leroy is also survived by his children: Valerie (Jeffrey) Thurston, Janice Mix and John Mix; 4 grandchildren: Jordon, Ashley, Madison and Jared; sisters: Arlene Downs, Rayelynn and Stacey (Mix) Hicks and Ruthann (Fred) Bebow. Leroy's family will celebrate his life on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St Therese Parish with Father John Fain officiating. Burial at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive visitors on Tuesday at Tiffany Funeral Home, Lansing from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. with a Vigil service at 7:30 p.m. and 1 hour prior to the service at church on Wednesday.
