Lewis "Mickey" Ferguson Ionia Lewis "Mickey" Ferguson, devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2013. Mick was born on November 7, 1934 in Ionia, Michigan the son of Donald and Mae Ferguson, the oldest of 5 children: brother Ken Ferguson of Ionia, Donald (Dorothy) Ferguson of Ionia, Doug Ferguson of Saranac. Mick was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Patricia McWilliams; sisters-in-law, Sue Ferguson and Carol Ferguson; nephew, Kenny Ferguson Jr. On April 30, 1955 Mick married his school sweetheart, Kathreen Jean Christensen, and she survives along with 2 children, daughter, Debra (Dr. Mark) Corn of Indiana, and son, David Ferguson of Georgia; 5 grandchildren, Cara (Kevin) Attride, Caleb and Bethany Corn, and Chad and Dana Ferguson; great grandchild, Isaac Ferguson; adopted daughter, Vicki (Doug) Ayers; many nieces and nephews, as well as many friendships over the years. Mick will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Mick delivered Grand Rapids Press newspapers before beginning his day at school, then he washed dishes at the Coney Island nights after school, then he moved on to the A & W Drive Inn. He also installed aluminum siding during the daytime, then on to Brown's Bro's & Standard Gas Station before his career at General Motors. He was always known as a hard worker and great provider for his family. Mick retired January 1, 1988 after 35 years of loyal service at General Motors. He took great pride in his work at GM, earning his way from pit cleaner to Production foreman and succeeded onto General Supervisor. Mick and Kathreen retired to their winter home in Florida, and summers back home in Michigan on Long Lake before moving back to their homeland of Ionia. Mick enjoyed fishing, boating, hunting, snowmobiling, and entertaining with his grandchildren, family and friends. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR and 3ABN on television. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 30, 2013 at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Ionia. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Ionia. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Lehman Funeral Homes, 220 Rich Street, Ionia. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Michigan, 989 Spaulding, Ada, MI 49301, the Parkinsons Foundation, or the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 721 Elmswood, Ionia, MI 48846, in memory of Mick.
