I just found out about Marian from the MSU Alumni magazine. My mother, Jean Johnson Gills, was one of her dearest MSU friends. She used to call her by the nickname "Shep"--something I remember from my younger days. Years ago when I was living in Lincoln, IL, my mom and dad and I were invited to a U of I game and a visit after at Marian and Ross's home. I believe I recall a very special black cat that I was quite taken with. Marian meant a lot to my mother--they were friends who communicated regularly through the years. Just wanted to express my condolences and appreciation for such a lovely and vital woman since my mom cannot. Paula Gills

Rest in peace, Marian. Hope you and Mother/Betty are sharing stories of long-ago times, especially about Grandma Allen and the cherry tree.
