The Guest Book is expired.
Michael Lee Flynn died on April 8, 2014, at his home in Okemos, Michigan, while in hospice care. He died peacefully and with close personal friends at his side.
He was 62 years of age. The cause was cancer.
Mr. Flynn was born on August 13, 1951, in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, to Lorraine and Michael J. Flynn. He was predeceased by his mother and is survived by his father, a sister, Cindy Scott of Sault Ste Marie, and a brother, Dr. Stuart Flynn of Phoenix, Arizona.
Michael Flynn attended Michigan State University and obtained an undergraduate degree in general business administration in 1973. Mr. Flynn also obtained a MBA degree in accounting from MSU in 1976. He was a lifelong Spartan and a fan and supporter of Spartan sports teams.
He then attended the Detroit College of Law and secured his Juris Doctor degree from that institution in 1979.
Following graduation from law school, Mr. Flynn was employed for several years in Denver, Colorado, but returned to the Lansing, Michigan area in the early 1980s where he then lived and worked the rest of his life.
Upon his return to Michigan he was a founder and partner in the Lansing lawfirm of Lynam & Flynn. A significant portion of his practice at that firm involved legal aspects of oil and gas exploration and development.
While he remained a member of the State Bar of Michigan, Mr. Flynn developed a passion for the exploration, development and production of oil and gas wells, primarily in southern lower Michigan. He became a brilliant self-taught geologist and involved a very limited group of life long friends in his various oil and gas development projects.
At the time of his death Mr. Flynn was the principal of Synergy Development Corporation and ML Energy, both of Okemos, Michigan, and he also served as general partner of several natural resource limited partnerships.
"Mike" Flynn was a creative thinker whose impassioned lust for life and thirst for knowledge attracted all who had the honor and privilege to know him.
As were his wishes there will be no services. Memorial donations may be made in his name to the Lansing Humane Society or to Hospice of Lansing. He was served by Skinner Funeral Home of Lansing, Michigan.
