Raymond D. Schofield Age 87 passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 4th in Traverse City , Michigan . Raymond was born the 9th of 10 children of Elmer J. and Christia Anne ( Stanley ) Schofield of Farwell, Michigan , 1925. He received a Bachelor's degree in zoology 1950, and a Master's degree in fisheries and wildlife 1957 from Michigan State University . He is a veteran of WWII, achieving the rank of U.S. Army Technical Sergeant. Raymond was preceded in death by his first wife, the former Rosemary Dwyer of Clare, and his second wife, the former Jeanne Beaudry of St. Johns, He is survived by four sons, Robert (Deborah) of Melbourne Florida, Randy of Ludington, John of Lansing, and Andrew (Margaret) of Traverse City, grandchildren Erik, Weston, Ian, Brandan, Elynne, Tracey, Timothy, Rachel, and John, and seven grandchildren. Ray was a game biologist for 40 years in the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, and started in 1943 as a forest fire lookout in Clare County . He retired in 1984 as the Acting Director of the Wildlife Division, at Lansing Headquarters. Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Vincent's Catholic Church, 637 6th St., Pentwater (tel# 231-869-2601) on Saturday April 13, 2013. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Michigan United Conservation Clubs or Hospice would be greatly appreciated.
