Richard Eymard Cardinal Lansing Loving Brother, Uncle, and Godfather unexpectedly passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2013 at home. He was born on June 6, 1930 to the late William B. Cardinal, Sr. and Genevieve (Angers) in Standish, MI. Richard graduated from Standish High School in 1948 and attended Arenac County Normal to begin his teaching career. He served his country in the United States Army. Richard earned a Master's Degree of Music from Michigan State University and was in the marching band. Taught in Northern Michigan schools before returning to Lansing where he spent the remainder of his teaching career. Richard's main passion was playing the piano, but also enjoyed singing with the St. Mary's Cathedral Choir in Lansing. Preceding him in death were his brothers, Eugene, James, Robert and John; sister, Yvonne Kutchuk; brother-in-laws, Louis Sobol and Ed Dembowske; sister-in-laws, Ardith, Jane, and Alberta. He is survived by his brother, William B. (Marian) Cardinal, Jr.; sisters, Magdalen Sobol and Mary Anne Dembowske; sister-in-laws, Gaye Lynn, Elaine, Marian; brother-in-law, Richard Kutchuk and many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 on Friday, October 4, 2013 at St. Mary Cathedral with Msgr. George Michalek as Celebrant. Family will receive friends on Thursday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. with the Rosary being prayed at 7:00 p.m. at Skinner Funeral Home, Lansing Chapel.
