Robert Franklin Bacon


Age 87, passed away on March 21, 2014 at Sparrow Hospital, Lansing. He was born November 5, 1926 in Eaton County to Lloyd and Ollie Bacon.  In 1946 he married Erma Lunn and had three children, Violet, Gary and Diane.

Robert worked as an airtool repairman at General Motors in Lansing, retiring after 30 years.  He enjoyed working on his farm.

Robert was a proud life member and Past Master of Mulliken F. & A.M. #412, a life member of Mulliken O.E.S. #161, life member of Grand Ledge R.A.M. #85, Charlotte Commandery #37, K.T., Grand Ledge Council #62, Saladin Shrines of Grand Rapids and 100 Million Dollar Club, Eaton County Shrine Club, Lansing Elks #2827, Michigan Farm Bureau, Strawberry Singles Club of Plant City, Florida, Lansing Moose Lodge #288, Lansing Eagles, and life member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite.  He reached a milestone this past fall when he was presented a 60 year Masonic pin and certificate from Grand Lodge, joining a very small family of brothers.  Robert also served as president of the Mulliken Temple Association and was a regular attendant of the Lodge.  He has always been a supporter of all Lodge functions.

Robert was preceded in death by his wife; parents; and brothers, Darrel and Harold Bacon.

Surviving are his daughters, Violet (David) Durfee of Fairfax, VA and Diane (Todd) Olson of DeWitt; son, Gary Bacon of Bellevue; sister, Clara Alice Webb of Lansing; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Services 11 A.M. Wednesday, March 26, at Barker-Leik Funeral Home, Mulliken, with Gordon Binns officiating, followed by Masonic Rites under the auspicies of Mulliken F. & A. M. #412. Interment will be in Meadowbrook Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sunfield S.P.Y.S.
