Ruth Marie Blasen Sterling Heights Formerly of Lansing, MI Age 76, our loving wife, mother, and grandmother went home to her Lord on January 22, 2014. Born January 6, 1938 in Saginaw, MI. Ruth graduated from Sts. Peter & Paul High School, and she earned her Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from Michigan State University. She was a math professor at Lansing Community College for 30 years. She was a "True Spartan" loving to watch M.S.U. football and basketball. She was a member of St. Gerard Church in Lansing and St. Lawrence Church in Utica. She enjoyed playing bridge, bingo and reading. Surviving are her husband of 47 years, Ronald A. Blasen; daughter, and son-in-law, Anne amd Robert Tessmer; grandchildren, Nicholas and Olivia Tessmer. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Erva and Ferdinand Piaszek. Visitation is from 2-4, 6-8 P.M. Sunday with a 7:30 P.M. Vigil Rosary in the Tiffany Funeral Home, 3232 W. Saginaw, Lansing. Funeral Liturgy is 10:30 A.M. Monday, January 27, at St. Gerard catholic Church, 4437 W. Willow, Lansing with Fr. Paul Erickson presiding. Rite of committal St. Joseph catholic Cemetery Mausoleum. Viewing will be from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. Monday at church. Contributions may be made to the Fr. Weber Fund for Education in memory of Ruth.
