Sara Larian Gifford August 18, 1915-September 3, 2013 Of Armenian Decent, filled with Life, Wisdom and Ambition, Sara arrived in the United States at the age of 8, with her mother and 4 siblings from Ellis Island. She made an extra effort in attending night school while working at Best & Co. in New York, plus several other jobs and obtained a College Degree. She met and married Maurice G. Larian, professor in Chemical Engineering at Michigan State University and moved to Michigan where she worked part time in sales at the Maurice Shop for many years. On Dr. Larian's passing she organized an Endowed Scholarship Fund in his honor where now 11 Scholarships are given to aspiring students annually, with a total of 300 Larian Scholars over 35 years. Involved with Kresge Art Museum and with the help of Joe Ishikawa and Susan Bandes she became a docent and active in many Kresge Activites. Seven years later, she met and married Roger Gifford, a PHD in Library Science who also worked at MSU and was happy at home and travelling around the world with him for 20 years until his passing. In 2004 at the insistence of her nephew and her niece, she moved to California. She felt she had lead a charismatic life and has lived it to the fullest with no regrets and was grateful for all God's Blessings.
