Susan Dorothea Armstrong Obituary
Susan Dorothea Armstrong Susan Dorothea Armstrong, soulmate and love of Tom Wagner of 31 years, passed away September 24, 2013 after a brief illness. She was 57 years old. Born in North Bloomfield, Ohio on November 12, 1955 to William David and Helen R. Armstrong. Susan is survived by sisters Marianne Armstrong and Katharine (Michael) Shreve; the love-of-her-life, Tom Wagner; her sisters-in-law Teresa (Larry) Graetz, Carol Dwyer and Sharon Partin; many cousins, nieces, nephews, and numerous friends and business associates. Preceding her in death were her parents, William and Helen Armstrong, sister Annabelle Haas and parents-in-law Jim and Trudy Wagner. Susan studied Botany at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio before transferring to Michigan State University where she attained her bachelor's degree in Nursery Production and Greenhouse Management. A consummate gardener, Susan founded Perennial Landscape Company in 1989, where she remained owner-operator until her illness. She made horticulture her life's work. Susan enjoyed baking family recipes in her leisure time such as sweet petals, prune coffee squares, and German Christmas cookies, to name a few favorites. One of Susan's favorite places was Heidelberg Beach on the shores of Lake Erie. There she enjoyed looking for lucky stones with Tom and spending time with her family. She expressed her creativity by making jewelry, playing music and designing gardens (Zen, English and Flower Gardens of all kinds). Susan shared her love of life with whomever she met, which was obvious to all. She was loved dearly as daughter, sister, life partner, sister-in-law, daughter-in-law and aunt. Her strength and courage were remarkable and a model for us all as she faced her daunting illness. The love affair between Tom and Susan has no ending, reflecting Susan's timeless beauty, and their eternal devotion to each other. The family wishes to acknowledge the extraordinary care and compassion of the entire Sparrow Hospital healthcare team. Susan was precious to us and in your care her last days were exalted. Cremation arrangements will be made by Desnoyer Funeral Home, 204 N. Blackstone, Jackson, MI. A memorial service will be held at a later date. The family asks that memorial contributions be sent to P.O. Box 214 Dansville, MI 48819-0214 in c/o Tom Wagner. Desnoyer Funeral Home, Family owned for 123 years
