William Harve "Bill" Marshall Lansing Passed away December 3, 2013 at the age of 74. He was born January 3, 1939 in Detroit. After attending Berkley High School he enlisted in the Army, serving as a radar repairman and then as an MP. Immediately following his military service he enrolled at Michigan State University where he met his future wife, Martha (Marty) McKim, whom he married in 1963. On September 14, 2013 Bill and Marty celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at the English Inn in Eaton Rapids. While attending MSU, he served as a circulation manager at the State News. After graduating with a degree in psychology, he worked for several years as assistant director of the personnel department for the Michigan Department of Treasury. Upon retirement from the state, he embarked on a second career as a Realtor, combining this with his favorite career as a "Full-Time Dad." Bill loved being surrounded by his family, especially his grandchildren. You would often find him at his grandchildren's plays, concerts and gymnastics, volleyball, basketball and football games. He was also a huge MSU fan. He and Marty traveled to Pasadena to watch MSU compete in the 1966 Rose Bowl and were eagerly anticipating a repeat trip in 2014. Bill and his family enjoyed many vacations in their motor home with highlights being the Canadian Rockies, Oregon and numerous sites in Michigan. Although he enjoyed gardening, he struggled to cook anything other than corn on the cob. An avid dog lover, he thoroughly spoiled his dogs with special treats and car rides. Bill is survived by his wife of 50 years, Martha Marshall of Lansing; son, David (Sarah) Marshall of DeWitt; daughter, Kelly Reeve of Grand Rapids; grandchildren, Jessica (Imko), Nathanial, Joshua, Lauren, Anna Grace; 4 nieces; 3 nephews; sister, Meri Bradford of Eaton Rapids; 2 sisters-in-law; 3 brothers-in-law. He was preceded in death by his parents, Freeland and Merelyn (Conarton) Marshall; his in-laws, Earl and Eva (Ward) McKim.
