Burmeister, Emmanuel J.
Emmanuel J. Burmeister, age 80, of 2402 W. River Street, Two Rivers, died Sunday afternoon, January 26, 2014, at Aurora Medical Center, Manitowoc County.
Emmanuel was born February 11, 1933, son of the late Alwood and Edith (Schmidt) Burmeister. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. On December 21, 1957 he married Charlotte C. (Weier) Burmeister in Two Rivers. She preceded him in death on June 15, 2007. Emmanuel was employed at Gruman's Machine Shop as a machinist and also at Mirro Aluminum Company for 25 years before his retirement. He was a member of the Small Engine Club and enjoyed attending steam engine and tractor shows.
Survivors include three daughters and one son-in-law: Joan Londo, Two Rivers; Jean and Ronald Linsmeier, town of Two Rivers; June Gilpatrick and special friend Betty, Houston, TX; four grandchildren: Brian (Kim) Linsmeier, Manitowoc; Kevin (Angie) Struck, Two Rivers; Jessica Gilpatrick, Murray, KY; James Gilpatrick Jr., TN; one sister-in-law: Clara and Keith Meyer, Two Rivers; one brother-in-law: Robert Weier, Manitowoc. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.
He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Jane Burmeister; one grandson, Andrew Linsmeier, an infant sister, Elaine Burmeister.
A visitation to celebrate his life was held on Saturday, February 1, 2014, at Klein & Stangel Funeral Home, Two Rivers, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Burial will be at Forest View Cemetery, Two Rivers at a later date. Full Military Honors will be accorded by the Two Rivers V.F.W. and American Legion.
