LANCASTER: Connie Jeanne Thomas, 73, of Lancaster died March 22, 2014 following a brief illness.
She was born August 26, 1940, in McComb, OH to Paul and Bernice (Roy) Brickman, deceased. She grew up on a farm in Hancock County, Ohio. She attended McComb Local School where she was active in music, including band performances as well as solos and duets in local churches. Upon her graduation in 1958 she attended Findlay College, Heidelberg University and Arizona State University studying Vocal Music and Business Management. She studied voice at several Ohio universities.
She worked as a legal secretary in Findlay, Ohio and Phoenix, Arizona. She also worked as an executive secretary at Motorola, Inc. in Phoenix and modeled clothing for department stores. She worked as an insurance and real estate agent in Circleville, OH.
Connie is survived by her husband, Bruce, whom she married August 23, 1959 in McComb, Ohio. She lived in many locations with her husband's DuPont assignments that included Victoria, Baytown, and Orange, Texas; Wilmington, North Carolina; Circleville, Ohio; and Johnsonville, Tennessee, as well as two international assignments in Puerto Rico and Brazil.
Connie danced with the Roundtown Squares, taught square and round dancing in Puerto Rico, and taught conversational English in Brazil.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church and choir and served on committees. She loved family, gardening, dancing, cooking, reading, and The Lord.
In addition to her husband, Bruce; she is also survived by her eldest son, Quinn and his family (wife, Laura and children, Antonia, Benjamin and Noah), Derek and his family (wife, Christine and children, Erica, Ryan, Jared, Carson and Mallory), Nicole and her family (husband, Layne and children, Jaidyn and Samia) and Jason and his family (wife, Jennifer and children, Brock and Jacob). Surviving siblings include Sonny Brickman, McComb, Ohio, Jan Baer of McComb, Ohio and San Diego, CA; also surviving is an aunt, Grace Rinehart of McComb, Ohio.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at the McComb United Methodist Church, 204 High Street, with a funeral service beginning at 1:00 PM at the church. Interment will be in McComb Union Cemetery near her kin and birthplace. Arrangements are being handled by COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME in Findlay, Ohio. The funeral service will be officiated by longtime family friend Reverend Howard Mayne.
