LANCASTER: Philip Scott Mackie of Lancaster died Monday, September 23, 2013. Born April 25, 1926 in Ashland, WI to David and Johanna (Zilisch) Mackie.
Graduated Ashland High School in 1944. Served in U.S. Army Air Force 1945-47 on Guam and Kwajalein, and Wisconsin National Guard. Attended University of Wisconsin, Madison; graduated University of Michigan (Ann Arbor) 1951-BSF (Forestry).
Married Bonnie Ann Weizenicker in Tomahawk, WI 1953; Parents of one daughter Carey Kozlowski, Bexley, OH.
Forester with Wisconsin Conservation Dept: Superintendent of Brule River State Forest, Gordon State Nursery, and Lucius Woods and Amnicon Falls State Parks. Real Estate Agent with Wisconsin Dept of Transportation. Retired 1987. Volunteer with Oneida Council of Campfire (Rhinelander, WI ); volunteer with National Park Service at Apostle Islands National Lakeshore, Colonial National Historical Park (Yorktown Battlefield), Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Mammoth Cave National Park, and Petrified Forest National Park. Park Ranger at Apostle Islands National Lakeshore. Volunteer in elementary schools in Las Cruces, NM and Lancaster OH; member Big Brothers-Big Sisters, Friends of the Library.
There will be no memorial service. Donations may be sent to Big Brothers-Big Sisters.
On October 19th at 11:00 a.m. there will be an open house at Crossroads for all of Mr Mackie's kids and their families. This includes all schools and Big Brothers, and this includes all ages.
