ASHTON, Eric
Affectionately known as "Teaser"
World War II Veteran - Regina Rifles passed away on March 5, 2013. The late Mr. Ashton was born at Qu'Appelle, Sask. He enlisted in the Canadian Army, September 12, 1939; just 2 days after war broke out. He was 18 years old. He went overseas with the Regina Rifles and served 5 years. He took part in the Normandy Landing and was wounded in action while on service in France. Following the War, Eric worked as a carpenter and then as an inspector with the City Building Department for 27 years. After an early retirement, he served with the Corps of Commissionaires at various locations throughout the city. Predeceased by his wife Phyllis, four brothers and one sister, Vesta Ehman. His is survived by one son Terry (Sheila) and several nephews. Funeral to be held on Monday, March 11, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Victoria Avenue Funeral Home, 2080 East Victoria Avenue. Interment will follow at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery.
