KENNETH JAMES (KEN) FOWLER
Ken Fowler passed away in his sleep December 10, 2013 at Veteran's Wing, Wascana Rehabilitation Centre, Regina. Ken was born October 31, 1921 in Tuxford, SK to Eva and Hugh Fowler and was raised on the family farm near Tuxford. Ken enlisted in the RCAF early in the war and was serving in McLeod, AB when he married Evelyn Zinn on February 11, 1941. In 1944 Ken was sent overseas to England and served with Bomber Command until the wars end. After the war, Ken worked in Moose Jaw and in 1955 moved his family to Buffalo Pound Filtration Plant where Ken worked as Asst. Plant Superintendent until his retirement in 1979. Ken and Ev moved to Moose Jaw and spent many happy years entertaining friends and travelling often to Arizona. Ken was always active in the community being a member of the Kinsmen Club, K-40's, Elks Club and the Legion. In 1996 Ken and Evelyn moved to a condo complex in Regina where they made many new friends and shared good times with family. In 2008 because of failing health Ken moved into Veterans Ward at Wascana. Ken was predeceased by his parents Hugh and Eva; his beloved wife Evelyn; sister Erma Skingle; brother Stanley and son-in-law Don Cooper. He is lovingly remembered by his daughter Sharron Cooper and grandchildren Dianne (Rob) Buchholtz, Mitch (Mima) Cooper; daughter Bonnie (Don) Johnston and grandchildren Scott (Marie-France), great grandsons Nathan and Connor and granddaughter Jennifer Johnston (Andrew); brothers-in-law Doug (Betty) Zinn, Bill (Daisy) Zinn and many nieces and nephews. The family are most grateful for the loving care Ken received from all the staff of Unit 3-6 at Wascana Rehab. At Ken's request, there will be no funeral. A private family Graveside Service will be held at Rosedale Cemetery in Moose Jaw. In living memory of Ken, a memorial planting will be made by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
