Kenneth Arthur Kerney
Ken was suddenly and tragically taken from us on Monday, March 11, 2013 at the age of 83 years. He was predeceased by his parents Elmer and Olga (Bud) Kerney of Milestone.
He will be forever loved and missed by his loving wife of 55 years Ruby; son Perry (Shelley) of Regina, their children Adam and Meryn; son Tim (Sandi) of Moose Jaw, their children Warren (Jenna), Allyssa, Lincoln and Maddyson. Ken was born December 19, 1929. He was raised and lived his entire life in Milestone. In 1956 he married the new school teacher, Ruby. They lived in several houses before Ken built the house where they've lived together for the past 50 years. They were blessed with two active and inquisitive sons. Ken worked countless hours at Elmer's Soo Line Service until selling it in 1985. He enjoyed holidays with his young family and on his days off would spend his time at home. Ken was active as a volunteer firefighter; available 24 hours a day to offer his help. He was dedicated to the Elks, enjoyed taking part in various events and wore his purple and white with pride. Ken was a converted and very devoted member of the Milestone Catholic Church where he offered his vocal talents and performed many other church duties. Ken was a dedicated grandfather and enjoyed the many activities that his grandchildren were involved in. He could always be seen reaching into his pocket to pull out his agenda calendar to record the next event. Ken was a true gentleman, kind, loving, generous, non- judgmental, patient and forgiving, with a great sense of humour. Ken enjoyed coffee with the guys at Mary's Place, playing the lottery, watching the Riders and could always be counted on to share a joke and a laugh. In business, as in life, he was fair and trusting of everyone. He lived his life devoted to his family, faith and community. Memories of this great man will be cherished by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He was known for ending his conversations with a wave and "Bye for now". The Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, March 16, 2013 at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church in Wilcox, SK. Reception will follow at the Milestone Masonic Hall. Those unable to attend the service are encouraged to join the family at the reception. A private family interment will happen at a later date.
