Columbus, GA- Bev H. Howard died Monday, February 10, 2014, at his home in Columbus, GA. The family will receive friends Thursday, February 13, 2014, 1:00 p.m. at St Luke Methodist Church in Columbus, GA., followed by Funeral services at 2:00 p.m. in the sanctuary, with interment at Parkhill Cemetery.
Bev H. Howard was born September 8, 1939, in Columbus, GA, son of the late Beverly Henry Howard and Grace Howard. He was educated in the public schools of Columbus, GA, and graduating from Columbus High School in 1957. He obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from the University of Georgia in 1961 and entered the United States Army as a second lieutenant. His service in the Armor Branch of the Army was cut short by the untimely death of his father. After the death of his father, he returned to Columbus to take over his father's printing business. Under Bev Howard's leadership, the printing business grew into one of the most successful commercial printing operations in the Southeast. Howard Printing Company was ultimately acquired by Aflac and is still operated in Columbus under the name Communicorp. Mr. Howard continued to serve as Chief Executive of Communicorp for several years after its acquisition. Mr. Howard retired in 1997 and continued to enjoy his family and legion of close friends until his death. He enjoyed being with his family at their country place in Harris County and at Seagrove Beach, FL. His concern and generosity towards his family and those in need was remarkable. The fellowship he shared with his friends in legendary among those who knew him well.
Bev H. Howard is survived by his wife, Susan Coulter Howard, and four loving children; daughter Lisa Howard Morris, son Neal Henry Howard, daughter Mary Anna Howard, and daughter Carolyn Coulter Howard, and two grandchildren; Claire and Cameron Morris.
