Columbus, Georgia- Mr. Clyde Gray, 89, of 42 Peacock Drive in Phenix City, AL passed Sunday, June 9, 2013 at the Veterans Hospital in Tuskegee, AL. Graveside services with military honors will be held at 11AM Thursday, June 13, 2013 at the Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery in Ft. Mitchell, AL with Rev. Markus Hammonds, officiating. Viewing and visitation will be held today from 12Noon-7PM at the funeral home, according to Sconiers Funeral Home, 836 5th Avenue, Columbus.
Mr. Gray was born September 12, 1923 in Detroit, MI the son of Gordon and Gladys Wald. Mr. Gray was a member of the Maranatha COGIC. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, was a volunteer fire fighter and a member of the Shriners Club and the American Culinary Federation. He was formerly owner and operator of Gray's Wrecking Co., was a retired mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, had worked as a chef for Ryans Family Steakhouse. His survivors include his wife, Aretha Gray of Phenix City, AL; 2 daughters, LaTonya (Michael)Muhammad of Ft. Mitchell, AL and Lena Gray of Phenix City and 3 grandchildren.
