Cottonton, AL - John Gilbert "Gil" Landingham, 68 of Cottonton, AL passed away Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, AL.
Memorial services will be held 11:00 am EST Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Cottonton Baptist Church in Cottonton, AL with Pastor Wesley Price officiating. A private interment will follow at a later date at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the memorial service.
Mr. Landingham was born May 11, 1943 in De Funiak Springs, FL to the late John G. Landingham and Lucy Lee Motley Landingham. He was a retired general carpenter with 40 years of service and veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Landingham was a member of the VFW and a Christian by faith. He enjoyed fishing, shrimping, the outdoors, NASCAR and spending time with his family. Other than his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Gary Landingham.
He is survived by his high school sweetheart and devoted wife of 50+ years, Evelyn Goodwin Landingham, sons, John Allen Landingham and wife Sharon and Jeffery Gilbert Landingham all of Cottonton, AL; grandchildren, Brittney Mabe Agerton, Jacob Cree Landingham and Orion Hayes Landingham, two great grandchildren, a very special nephew, Eddie Goodwin and wife Darleene, numerous other loving family members and many caring friends.

So sorry for everyone's loss. Gilbert was 1 in a million. Just a down to earth person. He will surely be missed by all. Bless his soul. His memory will live on in all of us.
