Columbus, GA- Mr. Luther Glover, Sr. of Columbus passed away Friday, February 21, 2014 at the VA Medical Center in Tuskegee, AL. He was 90 years of age and resided at 1133 Sturkie Avenue.
The son of the late Shelly and Lora Cornelia Hollis Glover, Mr. Glover was born in Armstrong, AL on February 1, 1924. He was a U. S. Army Veteran of WWII, and had resided in Opelika for many years. He was a member of Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Seale, AL, and was retired from the VA Medical Center in Tuskegee. He was a Prince Hall Mason. Mr. Glover was preceded in death by two sons, Nathaniel and Osborne Glover.
Surviving are: six sons, Luther Glover, Jr. (Mary), Paul E. Glover (Betty), Harold L. Glover (Benita), Alvin D. Glover (Annette), Stanley E. Glover (Ellen) and Ellis Glover; two daughters, P. J. Glover and Marjorie A. Glover (Pat); 20 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren; a brother, Emmitt Glover; two sisters, Shellie Lee Tarver and Rosa Lee Sigh (Odea D.); and a host of other relatives and friends.
The Interment Ceremony for Mr. Glover will be held Thursday, February 27, 2014 at 11:00 am at the Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery with Re. J.H. Flakes III officiating. Visitation will begin today at 1:00 pm with the Family Hour from 4 until 6:00 pm at the funeral home. The cortege will depart from the funeral home at 10:30 the morning of the service.
