Columbus, GA- Lt. Otis C. Brown of Columbus passed Sunday, March 23, 2014 at his home. He was 90 years of age and resided at 3380 Wallace Drive.
The son of the late Aaron C. and Lucinda Thomas Brown, Mr. Brown was born on January 2, 1924 in Valdosta, GA. He was a graduate of Dunbar High School in Washington, DC and had served in the U. S. Navy for three years. He later enlisted in the U. S. Army where he retired on June 30, 1973 following 23 years as a Staff Sergeant. He also retired from the Muscogee County Sheriff Department with 20 years of service to his community.
Lt. Brown was a faithful member of the Forrest Road Church of Christ where he served diligently until his demise. He also served as Vice Commander of the American Legion Post #554, and as a member of the Georgia Sheriffs Association. He was preceded in death by three siblings, Aaron, Jr. and Lewis C. Brown and Annie M. Jackson.
Surviving his departure with cherished memories, include: a daughter, Doris Goodman (Alphonsa); two sons, Alvin Brown (Felecia) and Curtis Anderson; two grandchildren, Raquel "Kelli" Correll and Alia Marie Brown; a great grandson, Xavier Brown;; a sister, Mary L. Richardson; loving step children and grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and devoted friends.
The Homegoing Celebration for Lt. Brown will be Monday, March 31, 2014 at 11:00 pm at the Forrest Road Church of Christ with interment following in Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery with Full Military Honors. The Family Hour is
Today, March 30, 2014 from 1 until 3:00 pm with visitation ending at 4:00 PM at the funeral home. Arrangements entrusted to the staff of Progressive Funeral Home, Inc.
