Columbus, GA- CWO 3 (Retired) Willie James Baldwin, Sr. of Columbus passed away Wednesday at Columbus Hospice. He was 75 years of age and resided at 1300 Greenstone court.
The son of the late James and Thelma Bassie Baldwin, Mr. Baldwin was born in Lloyd, FL on January 24, 1939. He was a graduate of Lincoln High School in Tallahassee, FL and obtained an Associate Degree from the University of Texas. He was a member of Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church where he served with the Deacon's Ministry and Budget Committed and as a member of the Male Chorus. Retired from the United States Army following 26 years of dedicated service, Mr. Baldwin was also retired from L & S Services, after 26 years as an Assistant Deputy Project Manager. He was the owner/operator of Unified Services and Royal Quality Services. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Willie J. Baldwin, Jr., a granddaughter, Toni R. Baldwin, and his siblings.
Surviving his departure with cherished memories, include: his wife of 47 years, Mrs. Delores Farmer Baldwin; a son, Anthony L. Baldwin (LaTasha); one granddaughter, Brooke Baldwin; a host of other relatives and friends.
The Homegoing Celebration for Mr. Baldwin will be held Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church with Pastor J. C. Harris officiating. The interment will be held Friday, March 21, 2014 at Southside Cemetery in Tallahassee (Leon County), FL. Visitation is Monday, March 17, 2014 from 2 until 7:00 pm at the funeral home. The cortege will depart from the residence at 10:30 a.m. the morning of the service. Arrangements entrusted to the staff of Progressive Funeral Home, Inc. "A Touch of Dignity for Those Who Care."
