Ellery A. Harvey

LINCOLN, IL - Ellery A. Harvey, 71, of Lincoln, formerly of New Hampshire, died at 8:45 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014, at Memorial Medical Center.

Ellery was born May 5, 1943, in Hinsdale, N.H., the son of Kenneth Allen and Grace Lucy Freeman Harvey. He married Gertrud Rau on Feb. 12, 1965 in Augsburg, Germany.

Ellery attended school in New Hampshire and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. While in the Army, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. He was employed for over 20 years as a truck driver at G & D Trucking, until his retirement in 2012. He was a member of ABATE, HOG, and the Moose Lodge in Pekin. Ellery was known for his good heart and always helping others. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson, fishing, playing guitar, and spending time with his family. He was also an excellent handyman.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, David Harvey.

He is survived by his wife, Gertrud Harvey of Lincoln; son, David Harvey of Pekin; three daughters: Karen (husband, William) Morrow of Lincoln, Linda (husband, Randy) Carter of Manito and Tina (husband, Frank) Gordon of Mason City; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three brothers: Wayne Harvey, Kenney Harvey and Billy Harvey, all of New Hampshire; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Cremation was accorded by Lincoln Land Cremation Society.

The family will host a Celebration of Life from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2014, at The Knights of Columbus, 217 Limit St., Lincoln. IL.
