Lobbe, Austin W.

Austin W. Lobbe, a lifelong Yonkers resident, died on Thursday, June 12, 2014 at Calvary Hospital. He was 86 years old. He was born on December 28, 1927 to Ellis and Marion Ball Lobbe in Yonkers where he was raised and educated. Mr. Lobbe was a sanitation worker for the DPW in Yonkers for many years prior to his retirement. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy as a Seaman First Class from 1945 to 1950. He was a member of VFW Post 1666 in Yonkers and Bajart Post of the American Legion. Mr. Lobbe was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church and was a member of the Finian Seniors and the 140 Club. On March 17, 1950, he married Theresa M. Wall in St. Joseph Church. She died in 2005. On March 26, 2013, he married his second wife, Barbara (nee Hesselberg) Kirschbaum in Yonkers. She survives and lives in Yonkers. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Joseph E. Lobbe and his wife, Barbara of Yonkers, a daughter, Theresa Gonzales and her husband, Louie of Montgomery, NY and two brothers, Robert of Rockland County, NY and Eugene of Moscow, PA. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. He was predeceased by a son, Austin (Billy) Lobbe, Jr., two grandsons, Keith Lobbe and Sean Brunner and a brother, Ellis Lobbe. Visiting Hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Sunday 3-8pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Sacred Heart Church on Monday, June 16th at 9:30am. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
