Dwyer , Br. Donald Paul

Reverend Brother Donald Paul Dwyer C.F.C. passed away on December 13, 2013. Born on August 12, 1929 in Brooklyn, NY, the son of Daniel and Marian C. Lynch Dwyer. He entered the Congregation of Christian Brothers on June 30, 1947 taking his first vows on December 25, 1948 and final vows on June 27, 1955. After attending Our Lady of Mercy Elementary School and Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx, he received his BA in History from Iona College. Br. Dwyer went on to receive an MA in History from the University of San Francisco, an MA in English from the University of Notre Dame and an MA in Theology from Maryknoll. His ministry took him to many positions including Rice High School in the Bronx, NY, Briscoe School in Kent, WA, Cantwell High School in Montebello, CA, Boys Central High School in Butte, MT, O'Dea High School in Seattle, WA, Essex Catholic High School in Newark, NJ, Catholic Memorial High School in West Roxbury, MA, Edmund Rice Hall, New Rochelle, NY as Superior, Deputy Provincial, Eastern American Province, Iona College in New Rochelle, NY, Councilor, Eastern American Province, Tertianship Renewal Program Rome, Italy, and St. Patrick's Provincialate Community, New Rochelle, NY. He is survived by one sister: Virginia Solano; predeceased by his parents Daniel and Marian Dwyer and three sisters: Danielle Sheahan, Joan Boyce, and Eileen Madden. A wake will be held at St. Joseph Care Center, 30 Montgomery Circle, New Rochelle, NY on Tuesday from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Family Church, Mayflower Avenue, New Rochelle, NY on Wednesday at 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to St. Joseph's Residence.
