Flora Vogel Lirtzman, 83, died Monday, March 4, 2013. Flo was born on February 20, 1930 in Frankfurt, Germany, daughter of the late Phillip and Emily Heinrich. Flo is a Holocaust survivor, hidden by the Hamstra and Pereira families in Holland during World War II. After the War she emigrated to the United States and became a Licensed Practical Nurse and practiced at Montefiore in the Bronx. Flo was an avid reader, knitter, crocheter, scrabble and literati player. She enjoyed playing these games with friends overseas and with her family. She is survived by her three children, David Vogel and wife MaryAnn Moon, Edward Vogel and wife Linda Wexler Vogel, and Emily Hronec and husband Robert Hronec; her step-children Robert Lirtzman and wife Carol Joe Yen, Alan Lirtzman and wife Susie Lirtzman, and Yoram Lirtzman and wife Miriam Sivkin; grandchildren Alexandra Lirtzman, Ethan Lirtzman, Jennifer Vogel, Abigail Ono, Mark Vogel, Molly Vogel, Efrem Lirtzman, Maya Lirtzman-Sivkin, Greggory Hronec, Jesse Lirtzman-Sivkin, Max Vogel and Dylan Hronec; and niece Judy Tramer. Many extended family and friends will surely miss this beloved mother, grandmother and friend. Flo was predeceased by her husbands Max Vogel and Sol Lirtzman.
Funeral services will be held at Heritage Funeral Home, 35 Morrissey Drive, Lake Peekskill, New York at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 6, 2013. Interment at Beth El Cemetery, 735 Forest Avenue, Paramus, New Jersey, immediately following services. Shiva will be held at her son Edward Vogel's residence, 12 Madison Hill Road, Airmont, New York, Wednesday following internment to 9:00 p.m., Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 pm. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Saturday from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that people make donations to their favorite charities in memory of Flora Vogel Lirtzman.
