Geoffrey Twining Egginton, accomplished architect, community leader, and cherished husband, brother, father, and grandfather, died July 22nd after a long illness.
Born to Mary Twining Egginton and Hersey Benner Egginton in New York City on March 19, 1940, Geoff was a graduate of The Loomis Chaffee School, Colgate University, and Columbia Graduate School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation, where he received his Master of Architecture.
Over the course of his more than forty years in the aviation industry, Geoff established himself as an expert in the design, planning, and construction of airport terminals throughout the world. Most recently, he was associate vice president at AECOM in New York City.
A resident of Lewisboro since 1976, Geoff played a number of significant roles in the community. He most recently served as chairman of the town's Zoning Board of Appeals, and is a past member of The Lewisboro Architectual Review Council and The Cross River Theater Company, for which he designed and built sets for several large-scale productions, and was commissioner of The Lewisboro Baseball Association. He also was warden at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Katonah and, most recently, an active parishoner at St. John's Episcopal Church in South Salem.
Geoff was an avid golfer, tennis player, and lifelong Mets fan, who always looked forward to the team's next championship. He found great joy in, and excelled at working with his hands, building model WWI and WWII aircraft, and designing and constructing a multi-dimensional model train village. He also took great pride in supporting The Loomis Chaffee School and in managing his Colgate University alumni singing group the Colgate 13.
Geoff is survived by his loving wife Susan, son Peter, daughter-in-law Mollie, and grandchildren Peter and Charles of Flourtown, PA, son Robert and daughter-in-law Leila of Brooklyn, brother Everett and sister-in-law Wynn of Hamilton, NY, brother Hersey and sister-in-law Quincy of Chappaqua, NY, sister-in-law Jane Smith, MD of Raleigh, NC, and many nieces and nephews.
