Kempton, Jeanne
Jeanne E. (Yannazzone) Kempton, a lifelong Rockland resident, died Wednesday, December 12, 2012, at her home in Nanuet. She was 98. Jeanne was born March 16, 1914, at her family home in Sparkill. She enjoyed 52 years of marriage to her husband, Edward, until his passing in 1994. Jeanne's pride and joy was her four children and she showered her love on them, her grandchildren, and all of her family. She loved to sing, laugh, entertain company and brighten everyone's day just by being herself. Jeanne was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Military Order of the Purple Heart.
Jeanne is survived by her daughter Frances Pantaleone of Goshen, sons Roger of Sparkill, Terrence and wife Joan of Pomona, and Jamie of Nanuet. She is also survived by her grandchildren Jennifer, Eric, Nick, and Suzanne; three great-grandchildren, Eric, Madison, and Gabriella; her brothers Sam of Sparkill, Dominic of Coxsackie, N.Y., and Joseph Sr. of Bayville, N.J.; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her husband, she is predeceased by her sister Marion and brothers Anthony, Carl, and Patrick.
Visitation will be held Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Joseph W. Sorce Funeral Home in West Nyack, N.Y. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 11:30 am at St. Anthony's Church in Nanuet. Burial will follow at the Frederick Loescher Veterans Cemetery in New Hempstead.
