Jerome Martin ("Jerry") Lubatkin passed away on November 27, 2013 after courageously battling esophageal cancer for 3 ½ years. Born on December 12, 1931, Jerry is survived by his beloved wife, Bernice (Klein). Jerry and Bernice were married for 57 years and a true lasting memory was when the entire family celebrated their 50th anniversary in Cancun, Mexico. Jerry is further survived by his three sons, Marc (Susan), Bruce (Veronica) and Jeff (Robin). Jerry's greatest pride and joys were his six grandchildren, Adam, Sarah, Ryan, Emily, Samantha and Kelsey.
Jerry graduated from Spring Valley Senior High School in 1949 and from New York University in 1953. Jerry proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Korean conflict. Jerry was active in his community. He is a Past Commander of the Jewish War Veterans (Fred Hecht Post) and a Past Chancellor Commander of the Ramapo Lodge of the Knights of Pythias. Jerry grew up in Rockland County, NY living in Nanuet and Spring Valley. After marrying Bernice in 1956 they lived in the Bronx, NY before moving back to Spring Valley in 1970. Jerry worked for New York Life Insurance Company for 29 years until he retired in 1985. He then went to work for the Rockland County Department of Mental Health before retiring in 1997. Jerry and Bernice relocated to Delray Beach, Florida to enjoy their retirement years. Jerry loved movies, sports and keeping current on world events. He arranged for movie nights and conducted a current events class at his retirement community. He was an avid fan of the New York Football Giants, the New York Knicks and the New York Rangers, and of course, the Brooklyn Dodgers.
Jerry had a big heart and a great sense of humor. He loved spending time with his huge circle of friends and cherished his family.
Burial will take place at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, December 3rd at Cedar Park Cemetery in Paramus, NJ. In lieu of flowers, it is Jerry's wishes for donations to be made in his honor to the
