The Guest Book is expired.
Joseph N. Rizzi Jr., 89, died March 30, 2014 in Nashville, TN. Born Sept. 1, 1924, he was the son of Irene and Joseph Rizzi of Tarrytown. His father grew up on the Rockefeller Estate, where his grandfather was employed. A graduate of Washington Irving High School, he played on the strong WI football teams of the '40s, attended Curtiss Wright Technical Institute, and served in the 12th Air Force in the Mediterranean area. After WWII, Joe returned to Tarrytown, married Marjorie Elliott, and earned a degree in civil engineering at NYU. He had a long and successful career, mostly in large water utility programs. He managed the Florida office for Hazen & Sawyer, covering projects in South and Central America, and Southeastern USA.
His wife predeceased him, as did his son, Ernest, in Feb. 2014. That sad occurrence may have precipitated his entrance to a hospital, where he fell victim to pneumonia and its complications.
Joe leaves one son, Joseph (and wife) of Christoval, Texas; a daughter, Janet Radler of Hermitage, TN; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother, Edward Rizzi of Sherman, CT; and a sister, Irene (Rizzi) Metzger of East Aurora, NY.
