Leon H. Klingher, also known as Buddy, died suddenly on Saturday, April 5, 2014 in Sarasota, FL. He was the son of Morris Klingher and Anna Klingher of Haverstraw, New York. Buddy graduated from New York University and Fordham Law School and practiced law in Rockland County for over 30 years. He was very active in his community, first as a town justice and later as Haverstraw Town Attorney. Buddy was instrumental in the creation of the Village of Pomona, NY in 1967 which helped ensure the village retained its rural character and self-government. He retired at the age of 57 to spend his days traveling, skiing, sailing and gardening and generally enjoying life. He had a second home in Wilmington, Vermont and later in the University Park section of Sarasota where he leaves many long-time friends. Buddy was predeceased in 2006 by his loving wife, Bobbi, with whom he shared over 52 wonderful years of marriage. His last years were spent very happily with Phyllis Hurwitz of Wayland, MA. Buddy lived life to the fullest, the way he wanted, and will be remembered by his family and friends as "one of a kind." He is survived by his children, Michael of Weston, CT, Beth of New Haven, CT and Adam of Deerfield, IL, as well as grandchildren, Laura and Sam Klingher, Ben, Nathan and Natalie Klingher, and Hannah and Noah Lifset. Services will be private.
