Costa, Louis P.

Louis P. Costa, 88, a life long resident of Mt. Vernon, NY, passed away peacefully at his home in Queensbury, NY, where he had resided since November 2011, on Friday, January 11, 2013 with his loving family at his side. He was born September 2, 1924 in Manhattan, NY, the son of the late Louis P. and Rosa (Fiordelisi) Costa. Louis was a graduate of Iona College in New Rochelle, NY, and served his country proudly with the US Army during World War II. He was employed as an accountant for 25 years with Exxon Corp and then as a financial auditor for the City of New York. Louis was a simple and down to earth man who loved his family. They always came first, they were his complete source of joy and he cherished their time spent together. In his younger years he was an accomplished athlete, enjoyed all sports and was an avid golfer. He also could be seen volunteering at St. Ursula's Parish in Mt. Vernon.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Clara Leone and his brother, Frank Costa. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Maria (Trimboli) Costa whom he married on April 15 1957, of Queensbury, his son, Louis P. Costa, Jr. and his wife, Jennifer, of Queensbury and his daughter, Rosa Jawski and her husband, Thomas, of Scarsdale. Also surviving him is his cherished grandson, Thomas Louis Jawski of Scarsdale and his sister, Mary Soley and her husband, James, of Long Island, NY.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at Our Lady of the Annunciation Church, Queensbury, NY. Mr. Costa was buried in the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Veterans Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY. In lieu of flowers donations in Louis's memory may be made to your local branch of Catholic Charities or to High Peaks Hospice of Warren County.
