Healy, Edward Patrick

Edward Patrick Healy was called home on Dec. 10, 2012 after a long illness with Alzheimer's Disease. Ed was born in Ossining on May 25, 1933. He attended St. Augustine School and graduated from Ossining High School in 1953. Ed enlisted in the National Guard and served honorably in the Korean War. He received the Korean Service Medal with two bronze stars and the UN Service Medal.

After returning home, Ed met and married Virginia Gallagher. Ed loved his career as a Railroad Engineer, running the trains in and out of NYC. Over his 40 year career, he operated trains for NY Central, Penn Central, Conrail and Metro North. In 1997, Ed retired to Mesa, AZ. He enjoyed his retirement years playing bridge, golf, tennis and spending time with loved ones.

Ed is survived by his children, Edward John Healy(Rosie), Judy Hendrickson (Gregg), Patricia Healy and Daniel Healy; grandchildren, Lindsay, Bryan, Christopher and Andrew Hendrickson. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Pesavento and brothers, Hubert Healy (Linnette), Lawrence Healy (Kris), James Healy (Betty), Joseph Healy and many nieces and nephews whose company he always enjoyed. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia, his son James and his parents, Hubert and Thelma Healy.

Ed was loved dearly by his family. He kept us all entertained with his stories about life as a prison guard, as a railroad engineer and best of all, being Ed. He will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 2-4 pm at Dorsey. The funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 11:30 am at St. Augustine's Church, Ossining. The interment will follow at St. Augustine's Cemetery.
