Terence E. McLinskey Sr. of Pearl River, NY a resident for 50 years, died Friday, November 29, 2013 at Care-One in Westwood, NJ at the age of 79.
Mr. McLinskey worked for the NYPD for 30 years and retired in 1982 as a homicide detective. After retiring he was director of security for Sotheby's and later worked as director of security for Henry and Nancy Kissinger and Kissinger Associates.
Terence was born May 19, 1934 in Bronx, NY to James and Anna McLinskey. He was a graduate of Xavier High School in New York. He attended Fordham University and left to serve in the United States Army during the Korean War. He later graduated from Rockland Community College with a degree in criminal justice.
Locally, he was a parishioner of St. Aedan's R.C. Church. He will be remembered as a fan of the opera and for his love of his home away from home his boat, the Vessel FX.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy M. McLinskey of Pearl River; children, Susan Sanchez of Pearl River, Karen Pfleging and husband Edward of Oradell, NJ, Joan Leary and fiancé Jared Rosenblum of West Nyack, NY, Terence E. McLinskey Jr. and wife Laura of Pearl River; grandchildren, Anthony, Katy, Victoria, Julia, Alexandra, Caroline, Jillian, Griffin, Ryan, Liam and Grace; sister, Veronica McLinskey of Bronx, NY; brother, John and wife Kathy of Orient, NY and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his siblings, Eileen Larkin, James and Thomas McLinskey.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10:00 am Tuesday at St. Aedan's R.C. Church, Pearl River. Visiting is Monday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm at Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home Inc.
