Alworth, Thomas "Farmer"

Thomas (Farmer) Alworth, with deep regret we announce the passing of Tom on July 18. He died peacefully after a long illness. Tom was born on August 20, 1930. He served in the military in the United States Army, stationed in Alaska during the Korean War. He worked in the construction field for many years, retiring as a construction manager in 1995. He built his home in South Nyack as well as a small cabin in the Catskill Mountains where he loved to visit.

Tom served the Orangetown Fire Company #1 of the Nyack Fire Department as a dedicated volunteer for 67 years. He joined the fire company as an auxiliary member at the age of 15. He loved to hike and fish and deeply appreciated the beauty of the natural world. He was a man of peace and kindness.

Survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Asaro Alworth, his daughter Maryann Hotvedt, his granddaughter Nikki Alworth Hotvedt, his son Thomas J. Alworth and his wife Sandra Bargman Alworth.

A celebration of Farmer's life will be held on August 24 at 11:00am at the Hannemann Funeral Home, Inc. 88 South Broadway, Nyack, NY.
