GRAEHLER, ALBERT J., 83, died on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born April 1, 1930 in Jasper, IN. He retired after 37 years or services as Administration Manager from IBM. He was a proud graduate of Ole Miss, for whom he played varsity basketball, baseball, and ran cross-country on scholarship and served as Captain of the teams. He served as a Captain in the Army during the Korean War after his college graduation. He was deeply faith filled man who was an active member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. He served the Church in many capacities but most recently as a Hospitality Minister and a Eucharistic Minister.

Al was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Lorena Graehler; his brother, Richard Lee; and his grandson, Brandon Kelly Barth.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 57 years, Edna Mae Knust Graehler; children, Ann Flaherty (Mike), Donna Medley, Michael Graehler (Mary), Mary Barth (Brandon), Randy Graehler (Karen), Susan Wood (Tim), and John Graehler (Cindy); 24 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, all of whom where his pride and joy; his brother, Rev. Kenneth Graehler; and sister, Carol Hufnagel (Walter).

He will be remembered most for his love and devotion to his family.

His funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 29, 2013 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 508 Breckenridge Lane. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 2-8 p.m. at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to his favorite charities, The Piarist School and Right to Life.
