BENTLEY, DR. ALBERT NELSON "DOC," 95, passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2014.
He was a graduate of Washington University-St. Louis School of Dentistry and practiced in St. Matthews until his formal "retirement" in 1993. However, he continued working in dentistry until 2007.
Doc was a US Army captain in the European Theatre in World War II where he earned a Purple Heart. He also had the unique experience of caring for the teeth of General George Patton.
Doc was an avid golfer with seven holes-in-one to his credit and a former member of Audubon Country Club and Midland Trail Golf Club. He was also a fan of the Cincinnati Reds and Detroit Tigers.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Albert Bentley; his brother, Charles Allen Bentley Sr. and his wife of 66 years, Betty Downs Bentley.
Survivors include his three children, Barbara Bentley (Mike Dehan), Bill Bentley (Angie) and Betty B. Bentley; two grandchildren, Brian Bentley (Beth) and Leah Bentley; and two great-grandchildren, Brock and Luke Bentley.
Doc was a member of Holy Triniity Catholic Church.
His funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Trinity, 501 Cherrywood Road with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-7p.m. Sunday at Ratterman's, 3711 Lexington Road.
