MEISNER, ALMA ROPPEL, was born December 8, 1918 and passed away Thursday December 5, 2013 with her family by her side.

She was a special mother, grandmother and a favorite aunt. After her first husband, Jerome Roppel died at age 35; she operated the family grocery and raised their three children. She was also employed at St. Barnabas School and Skaggs Transfer.

Alma is preceded in death by her second husband, Anthony Meisner; daughter, Christie Roppel Meisner; sister, Lucille Wooldridge, Clare Mae Bell and Joan Erhart.

She is survived by a daughter, Jean Kelty (Jack); son, Jerry Roppel(Vanda); sister, Viola Hoffman(George); grandchildren, Michael Kelty (Brenda), Ron Kelty (Shannon), Dr. Steve Kelty (Karen), Patrick Kelty (Adriana), Cindy Morgan, Andy Roppel, Cory Roppel, Katie Holland, Turner Summers and Mark Meisner; 27 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great- grandchildren.

Mrs. Meisner's funeral service will be Monday 10 a.m. at St. Margaret Mary, 7813 Shelbyville Rd. with Rev. Martin Linebach officiating, burial to follow in St. Michael Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Sunday at Ratterman Funeral Home, 12900 Shelbyville Rd, East Louisville.

The family would like to give a special thanks to her friend and caretaker Jennifer Jones.
