SILS, BERTRAND J. "BERT," 91, of Louisville, passed away on Tuesday, March 25, 2014.

Born in Louisville, he was a retired Assistant Fire Chief of the Louisville Fire Department, a member of St. Martha Catholic Church and a longtime member of Elks Lodge #8. He also was a decorated World War II veteran that was awarded a Purple Heart and a Silver Star.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Sils.

Bert is survived by his children, Richard L. Sils (Lisa) and Linda A. Schmidt; and grandchildren, Brian Sils, Christine Sils, Scottie Schmidt, and Hailey Schmidt.

His funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at Highlands Family-Owned Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. on Monday at Highlands.
