Chuck was a graduate of New Albany High School, Indiana University, Indiana University Southeast. He and his wife were married at St. Martha Catholic Church, where he remained a devout parishioner, serving in many capacities, including RCIA team member, parish council chair, and basketball coach.

Chuck was a teacher in every sense of the word and in all aspects of life. He touched the lives of his students as he taught history and government and coached many sports at Clarksville, Assumption, and Providence High Schools; Mercy Academy; and St. Agnes, Westport Middle and Highland Middle Schools. He inspired all who knew him because of his strong faith, perseverance, sense of humor, wisdom and capacity for love and friendship.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Marvin Stocksdale.

He is survived by his loving wife and caregiver, Sheila Bell Stocksdale; his children, Carrie Weber (Shannon), Felicia Feldkamp, Catherine, Graham and Aaron Stocksdale; granddaughters, Savannah and Riley Weber; siblings, Judy Dehn, Linda Stocksdale, Patti McIntosh (Jesse), and Stephen Stocksdale (Lisa); sister-in-law, Rhonda Stocksdale; brothers-in-law, Chet Bell (Martha) and Steve Bell (Vickie); life-long friend, Kenny Popp (Teri); a host of nieces and nephews.

The family extends our gratitude to Dr. Patrick Williams, Dr. Rex Lagerstrom, Dr. Bipin Savani, the Stem Cell Transplant Team at VUMC and to the many nurses, friends, and family members who helped Chuck and our family throughout Chuck's battle with cancer and the 935 days following his stem cell transplant.

Chuck's funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at St. Martha Catholic Church, 2825 Klondike Lane, with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Sunday and Monday at Ratterman & Sons Funeral Home; 3800 Bardstown Road.
