MITCHINER, CLARICE JAMES, PH.D., a resident of The Forum, died on July 17, 2012, at the age of 92.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Welton Mitchiner, a Baptist minister in the Louisville area for 35 years.
A member, deacon, and teacher at St. Matthew's Baptist Church, Clarice taught English and Communication Arts at the University of Louisville and at Indiana University Southeast.
Survivors include two sons, Charles Jeffrey (Juliette) and John Timothy (Cindy); a daughter, Joyce Carol Norene (John); five grandchildren, Jeffrey Hammonds, Mark Mitchiner (Diane), Melanie Knupp, Elizabeth McCarthy (Todd) and Allison Mitchiner Rogers; two great-grandchildren, Hayden Mitchiner and Nicholas McCarthy; one brother, Charles James (Janice); and two sisters, Betty Whitfield (Norman) and Barbara Klawitter; in addition to several nephews and nieces.
Clarice's body was willed to the University of Louisville Medical School with cremation to follow.
A memorial service will be held at St. Matthew's Baptist Church on August 4, 2012 at 10 a.m.
Her request is that expressions of love be made to the church in lieu of flowers or other gifts.
