ABNEY, CLAYTON G. JR., 79, of Louisville, passed away Friday, January 18, 2008. He retired from L&N Railroad after 10 years of service, Naval Ordnance after 31 years and retired as a funeral director in the Louisville area after 22 years of service. Clayton was an active member of Walnut Street Baptist Church and was a proud member of the Suburban Masonic Lodge #740, the Scottish Rite and the Kosair Shrine Temple. He was preceded in death by his devoted and loving wife, Evelyn; and son, Donald C. Abney. He is survived by daughters, Linda Sutton (David), Susan Diana Brown (Jack) and Michele Williams (Danny); sisters Thelma Jean Mills, Sue Bonny, Jessica Irene Abney and Rebecca Flynn (Laymon); brother, Cecil Abney (Marsha); 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and his beloved Cocker Spaniel, "Brother". Service will be 1 p.m. Monday at J.E. Ratterman and Son Funeral Home 7330 Southside Dr., with burial in Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Saturday and noon-8 Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Kosair Children's Hospital or Hospice of Louisville in Clayton's memory.
