EDELEN, COLLINGS JAMES "JIM" JR., 82, died peacefully on December 1, 2013, in Northport, FL.
Formerly of Louisville, Jim was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 46 years, JoAnne Stucker Edelen; parents, Catherine Feeney Edelen and Collings James Edelen, Sr.; and his sister, Sr. Mary Loyola Edelen. He is survived by his four children, Richard, Christopher (Nanette), Catherine, and David; five grandchildren; 14 nieces and nephews; and his brother, Donald J. Edelen (Virginia). Jim was a graduate of St. Xavier High School, '49, The University of Notre Dame, '53, and The University of Louisville School of Law, '61.
A former veteran of the United States Army, Jim was an engineer for the Colgate Palmolive Company and Executive Vice President of the former V.V. Cooke Chevrolet Company. He was a fifty plus year member of the Kentucky Bar Association, and a cofounder of AMCOR, the nation's first independent sales organization of credit card processing services. He also was the President of The Merchants Friend, Inc, and President of Hurstbourne Country Club, Vice President of the Greater Louisville Auto Dealers Association, and was a long-time member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church.
Visitation will be on Sunday, December 22, 2013 from 4-8 p.m. at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, Louisville, KY. Funeral Mass will be on Monday, December 23, 2013 at 11 a.m. at St. Albert the Great, 1395 Girard Drive, Louisville, KY. Private burial at Calvary Cemetery.
